Signs You Are Making the Right Decision

According to researchers, the average adult makes an average of 35,000 decisions each day. While that may sound like an exaggerated number, you must consider the small decisions as well as the big decisions. You made a decision to get out of the bed. Then, you made a decision to stop by the bathroom before you walked into the kitchen. Then you made a decision to open the refrigerator instead of the pantry. Shall I continue? Within one minute, you have already made 3-5 decisions. The reason why those small decisions are overlooked is because they don’t require the amount of contemplation that big decisions require, like whether to take this new job offer or buy this new car. When you’re making big decisions, they can be scary. But what if they didn’t have to be? Below are my top two signs that tell when you are making the right decision!

1: You Trusted Your Intuition

Every person has an intuition. It’s that small voice you hear in your head or the feeling that you get in your stomach. Your intuition is what tells you when you are making a good or bad decision. When I’ve encountered a person who regretted something, I’ve always heard them say either “something told me I was making a mistake.” And that something…was your intuition guiding you. Trust it and never let your rationalization rule over your intuition.

2: You Understand the Why

Discovering the “why” is what helps you understand the reason behind your choice. While you don’t need to explain your choices to anyone else, you are responsible for explaining them to yourself. If the future version of yourself was to ask you why you made a certain choice, and your answer is “just because” or “I don’t know,” then that is a sign you are making the wrong decision. A sign you are making the right decision is when you understand what your why is so deeply that you can state a convincing argument if your future self was to inquire with the present version of you.
